You are viewing an original photograph of Desert Apaches. The photo is by Curtis, and was taken in 1903. Curtis captioned the image, "Desert rovers - Apache".  Curtis tells us that these are White Mountain Apache, and that the picture was made on a cold day in early spring, when they wear blankets as protection against the cool air of their home.
