Young Black Man

You are viewing a picture of a Young Black Man. The lithograph was created by the Calvert Lithography Company, Detroit Michigan, in 1892. It portrays an African American, standing at desk, with one hand resting on papers and one hand raised. It shows the typical racist caricature that was common in the late 1800's, when is was common to ridicule black people in art and entertainment.
