This is a fascinating image showing the crowd
enjoying a day at the races in 1865. The drawing shows the
unmistakable style of Winslow Homer. The image is captioned, "Our
Watering Places - Horse Racing at Saratoga." The image shows the
excitement of a horse race. In the right portion of the picture,
horses can be seen racing in front of the crowd. The crowd is seen
wildly cheering the horses on. It is interesting to note all the rich
historical detail in the illustration. You can see the styles and
customs of the people of this day.
