Winslow Homer Civil War Art:
The Undisputed 1864 Civil War Winslow Homer Collection
By the year 1864, Homer's illustrations for Harper's
Weekly slowed to a trickle. After the war he continued to submit
illustrations to them, and many of his finest works appeared first in
Harper's Weekly. I do not know why there are such few examples of
Homer's work in 1864. Perhaps there are more "hidden" examples which
he did not sign, or perhaps other matters prevented him from completing more
work. If you have ideas, please email me.
