This is a patriotic image showing soldiers marching off to serve in the Civil War. The image shows Uncle Sam standing next to Columbia. Women and children, supposedly the families of the soldiers, are shown behind the two symbols of the country. Also pictured are large bags of gold, indicating that Uncle Sam intended to keep his word to provide for the families of the soldiers. |
