This leaf from the June 15, 1861 edition of Harper's weekly features three important Civil War illustrations. The upper left inset shows a group volunteers at Arlington Heights. It is captioned, "United States Volunteers Throwing Up Entrenchments at Arlington Heights". The upper right illustration shows a Cavalry Charge, and is captioned, "Brilliant Charge of the United States Cavalry Through the Village of Fairfax Court House on May 31, 1861". the lower illustration is captioned, "The City of Cairo Illinois, As Seen From the Camp." |
