Thomas Nast's Original "Civil
War Scouts" Print
This is a Thomas Nast drawing illustrating
Union Scouts in the Civil War. The image is an original leaf from the
April 4, 1863 edition of Harper's Weekly. The picture is captioned, "A
Night Scout in the Southwest - Surprise of an Outpost, and Survey of the
Rebel Guns". The image shows a group of Union Soldiers on Night Patrol.
It appears that they have captured a Rebel picket guard, and have him tied
and blindfolded. |
