Thomas Nast's Original "Long
Branch" Print
This, is an 1865 Thomas Nast illustration.
The Illustration is captioned, "Our Watering Places, Views at Long Branch."
The illustration shows a variety of scenes of families enjoying a day at the
beach. This represents a new style era of Nast's career. The
civil war was over, and he was free to capture images of fun and family.
The illustration is fascinating in that it reveals the styles and customs of
families in the mid-1860's. |
