Thomas Nast's Original  Civil War "Army of the Potomac - Drawing Rations" Print

This is an original 1863 print of Thomas Nast's famous "Army of the Potomac - Drawing Rations" illustration.  The image shows an interesting view of life in the Army of the Potomac. Men are lined up to receive their meal. A soldier is serving up what looks to be soup or stew to a line of hungry Union Soldiers. Another man appears to be passing out bread. In the background, a black cook stands beside the fire, his work mostly completed now.

The line for food formed quickly, and towards the back of the line, you can see several additional soldiers scurrying for position, apparently concerned whether there will be anything left by the time they get to the kettle.

This is a great Thomas Nast illustration, showing a typical Union Army camp scene.
